Wantage Remembers

Wantage Services of Remembrance - Monday 14th October 2019.

Wantage held Two Services of Remembrance on Monday 14th October 2019, commemorating the first casualties of the Second World War from the town.

The Fallen Remembered

Marine Verdun Loos James PIERPOINT, aged 22, and AB Joseph Paschal WILKINS, aged 35,  who were two of the 834 who perished on board HMS Royal Oak at Scapa Flow on 14th October 1939, eighty years ago.
 
Also remembered our most recent casualty from Wantage in modern conflict, Lance Corporal Sarah Jayne HOLMES, Royal Logistic Corps, aged 26, who died on Operation TELIC on 14th October 2007 twelve years ago.
