BMMHS Virtual Talks
The first live talk by BMMHS for 18 months last night was a great success. A socially distanced audience listened to a superb talk by Dr Helen Fry on MI9 and how they helped thousands of downed airmen and POWs Escape back to Britain. She described the bravery and dangers for local families in occupied Europe, how Red Cross parcels contained hidden maps in Monopoly boards, compasses disguised in tunic buttons and shaving brushes. Very much the stuff of ‘Q’ in James Bond. An exciting and fascinating talk with an interesting Q&A. Thank you Helen and all who came along.
